Sheppard is a true multi-faceted creative. Having studied history and art, his musical inclinations led to a career in Baroque pop outfit Balloon who enjoyed a stint on the shelves of major-label RCA. Fast forward a number of years and he brings us Vertical Land, his first solo full-length for Village Green Recordings. Inspired by the sounds and visual traits of places he visited all across the globe, Sheppard has built a sound that toes the line between neo-classical composition and pop-indebted electronica. Opener, A Thumbnail Sketch Of Infinity, sets the scene immaculately- a carefully built climax coming from a thunderous and repetitive synth rhythm.
