Brighton-based duo Prinzhorn Dance School return to James Murphy’s illustrious DFA Records shelves with this follow-up to their 2012 debut. The LP finds the band in a confident realm of disco-noir. As is clear on the two-octave harmonies of Reign, the dancefloor-friendly moments on this 6-track full-length are born more out of smoky discotheques than glitterball euphoria. The album is skeletal, stripped-back and simple. Disco, pop-indebted melodies set against a backdrop of spidery production. As sophomore records go, the duo have successfully pinned down their moonlit hedonistic soundtrack on this LP.
