Made in a haze of detuned guitars and “bottomless toast” in a café near their studio, Codes In The Clouds’ tack-sharp debut Paper Canyon captures a tantalising snapshot of post-rock’s late zenith — and it was made by a group of teens on the cusp of their 20s. The twinkling titanite and heavier-than-heaven textures follow in the tradition of Mogwai and 65daysofstatic before them, and the youth and optimism are reason enough to dive back in.
