Known by many as the “mad professor” of the synth world, Peter Zinovieff essentially shares a scrapbook of experiments on this release, many of which paved the way for central synth-based productional tropes of the now. There are early incarnations of vocoder manipulation and computer sampling which are all tucked in to this 21-track compendium of Zinovieff’s early years. Having opened his studio doors to the likes of David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Kraftwerk- early sketches and ideas from Zinovieff might well have led to some iconic and era-defining sounds. This collection for Space Age is as much a look back as it is a pointer to what would come next.
