Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum make a much welcomed return as Jets on Edgar's always on-point Ultramajic imprint. Following the sold-out Jets EP in 2012 (currently demanding silly money on Discogs) and last year's cover of classic Boards of Canada cover Midas Touch they are back with the future RNB leaning funk of The Chants. Opening with a slow-mo boogie number enlisting the vocal talents of Jamie Lidell U. N. I. features soaring synths and a proper head nodding beat primed to be played loudly outdoors this summer. Elsewhere they explore skittering electronics on Pink Beat mixing UKG vox with lush pads to hypnotic effect. Pyrite Blue continues the slowed down electro funk vibe with almost footwork snares rolling through while the pads soar overhead and EP closer The Chants ends things on a bass-heavy uptempo hip-house tip rounding off an EP primed for the dancefloor. To put it simply it's stunning stuff and the best release yet from this enigmatic duo.
