Having been linked to the bounds of mere ambient music in the past, Cankun has turned in an LP for Not Not Fun which stretches the bounds of that banner and employs live instrumentation, fragmented field recordings and swollen melodies to create something that can’t really be defined. Some moments are plaintive expressions of this vision like the still build of Cuts and Trezz whereas other tracks. In other chapters of the album, Cankun boggles the cerebrum even more with befuddling melodies that fidget around looking for space against rich production. An exciting step forward for the producer and composer.
