UK heavyweight Ed Upton dons his adored DMX Krew guise for a retro tainted run out on Super Rhythm Traxs with the 5 Ways 2 Jack EP. With his trademark analogue aesthetics in check, Upton deploys a range of acidic variations on the classic jack sound, starting with the mid-tempo eyes down chug of ‘Vicious Bleebz’, through the mechnical bleep groove of ‘Bleepology’ and tough, warehouse ready lysergia on ‘Up ‘N Down’. The slick, bouncing bassline and handclaps of ‘Txing Control’ is sure to get the heads moving their feet, whilst ‘Ragga Clash’ flips the formula on its head in favour of some bulky, computerised bashment skank.
