Kindly resurrected by the Numero Group, this compilation of releases from Gene Autry Cash’s Jade label is a historical piece insofar as it documents the most raw and unpolished strands of gospel music. Much of the music on this compendium is not made by any professionals. The songs came from children, preachers and worshippers who used their devout faith to drive a sound that incorporated deep-south soul and country music. From the audibly joyous rush of I Love The Lord to the communal majesty of Family Prayer, this compilation shows gospel music in its truest and most emotive form.
