Mica Levi debuts her first new material following the widely acclaimed Under The Skin OST with the mixtape/album feeling romantic feeling tropical feeling ill for Demdike Stare's DDS imprint. Levi’s refusal to be pinned down to any genre or scene continues on this release. From the ambient sonic assault of the opener to the immersive and cinematic string melody of Sadsadsad, this LP explores all corners of electronic composition and left-field sonic art. As a result of it being labelled a mixtape, Mica is able to provide a collage of ideas with less focus on cohesion or narrative. The record meanders between sounds and shapes freely but with a constant sense of exploration and discovery. Having already garnered a wealth of support for her soundtracking abilities, this release affirms the view that Mica Levi is one of the country’s great musical innovators.
