Music on Vinyl reissue of the 1956 studio album for the Virginia-born, Queen of Jazz, Ella Fitzgerald. The jazz singer, known for her impeccable phrasing, intonation and scat-singing, made a name for herself in the jazz bars of Harlem, New York, forming a career that saw her work alongside the likes of Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra and Duke Ellington. Lullabies of Birdland consists of recordings made between 1945-1955 and includes the beautifully swinging title track ‘Lullaby Of Birdland’, the Dixieland jazz classic written by Spencer Williams ‘Basin Street Blues’ and ‘How High The Moon’ which sees Lady Ella swing between some charming love-song vocals and high speed scat-singing.
