Berlin-based British producer BNJMN (Benjamin Thomas) has launched his own imprint, and presents us with BRACK001 as the inaugural release. Starting as he means to go, the three cuts on this release venture firmly down the techno mainlane. Luster is a heavyweight workout with industrial beats and a cerebral synth hook. It’s followed up on by Penumbra where analogue synths and skeletal techno blueprints are brought to the fore. The tempo is raised to an unnerving but invigorating count on Keel where Thomas’ time spent in Berlin appears to be deconstructed and put back together all in the shape of a strapping techno excursion. For label and artist alike, BRACK001 is a step in a thrillingly unlit direction.
