Apostille is the solo project of Glaswegian creative and Night School Records head Michael Kasparis who puts this record out through his own imprint. Managing to pack in the sounds of both Depeche Mode and contemporary left field pioneers like Arca and Lotic in to one release, the sounds of Powerless are rooted in pop but they manifest themselves through mantra-like electronica on tracks like Control and Olivia’s Eyes. Even when melody is at a fore, there is a dystopian cloud over this LP leading to a brand of neurotic experimental pop music that would make most major-label A&R heads shiver.
