At its heart, you could say that Detroit techno constituted a revolution in and of itself. Legends of the scene’s golden age, Reese & Santonio certainly saw the link with ‘The Truth Of Self Evidence’, as they demonstrate with the rousing, sermon-like utterances of Martin Luther King, which play out across a hard-thumping, proto-hardcore rhythm, peppered with brittle synth strings and hand claps. The remastered b-sides ‘Grab The Beat’ and ‘Structure’ delve deeper into the beat; the former lively with chattering acid bass, the latter a shuffling onslaught of competing measures, matched by a warm analogue bassline.
