Legendary British electronica outfit Leftfield follow up 1995's Mercury Prize-nominated debut Leftism and 1999's Rhythm And Stealth with a brand new full-length entitled Alternative Light Source on Infectious Music UK / BMG Rights Mgmt. We find the group - now led solely by Neil Barnes - sounding refreshed and revitalised on this LP. The climate of main-lane electronica has transformed immeasurably since Letfield first held the throne but the glassy Jon Hopkins-like production of Universal Everything and the pendulum-swinging weightiness of Storms End are by no means the sound of a heritage act. Alternative Light Source is a triumphant comeback from a group who will always exist at the forefront of British electronic music.
