Berghain promoters cum label venture Leisure System inaugurate their new Gridlock series with the Longanimity EP from Bristolian producer Joefarr. With strong releases on the likes of Turbo and Power Vacuum under his belt, here Joefarr continues to push a rough, dance floor ready sound punctuated with acute IDM detailing. Off first, ‘Oleum’ settles into a grating, off-kilter swing yet it's the technoid cut-up styling of ‘Mormon Shuffle’ with its malfunctioning mechanical grott that shows best what this producer is aiming for. On the flip, ‘Standard Issue’ is more rhythmically direct, building slashing synthesized textures over a dominating throb, whereas ‘FS3+4’ is a clattering, pots ‘n pans riot that cause mayhem on the ‘floor.
