Robert Hood, the one who co-founded the Underground Resistance label and runs the influential Detroit imprint M-Plant, lands on EPM Music: it’s the first time he combines new work under his real name with a fresh track under his Floorplan moniker on one EP. Their juxtaposition unveils both the parallels and the different angles of his two projects. Whereas they rhythmically mirror each other with their spiralling groves, ‘Shaker’s’ alienated vocal sample and eerie harmonies convey a darker ambience. It is also the more effect-driven of the two, while ‘Ritual’ presents its claps and signature hi-hats quite clearly.
