Lou Reed's 1973 album 'Berlin' was his third solo studio album and the follow up to Transformer, the first to contain any new material away from The Velvet Underground. Production duties handled by Bob Ezrin, who also worked with Alice Cooper, Kiss, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple, Berlin shows Reed at top of his game. Built on the idea of a tragic rock opera about about a doomed couple, the full-length addresses drug use, prostitution, depression, domestic violence and suicide.
