Where Klein’s music had existed in liminality before, her 2025 mixtape Sleep With A Cane is her fullest plunge into gargantuan ambient drone textures yet. This is music for a dark wind tunnel: tracks swivel and sigh with amplified breath, pianos are stitched into glitchy sediment, waves wash through elasticated vocal distortions, and then everything is blown away by Klein’s inimitable left turns. Amidst dazzling synth arrangements and abstract flashes of spoken word, shimmering echoes grow into blistering harmonic noise on ‘Bruk Promise’, while Ecco2k contributes to ‘Young, Black And Free’ with vast swathes of churning sound.
