Hip hop producer Long Arm from Orenburg, Russia, follows up his 2011 debut on Project: Mooncircle with his second album for the Berlin-based leftfield electronic label. Although Kellion the Stories of a Young Boy contains traces of the soothing saxophones and pleasant, meditative keyboard scales that characterised 2011’s ’The Branches’, it’s a lot denser and more propulsive than its predecessor. The pushing, stumbling beats unload in liberated drumming and childish flute interludes. Combined with the mellow pads of strings and cosmic Fender Rhodes notes, the album truly feels like an eventful journey, one that very well indicates the narrative of a young boy exploring a mysterious world between reality and imagination.
