After dropping their celebrated debut LP Prayer Before Birth on Matthew Herbert’s Accidental, London three-piece Heira find themselves on Floating Points’ co-owned Eglo Records with the Name Surname EP. The London-based outfit’s confidence continues to grow, evident on the stirring, upbeat title track followed by the twinkling, lavish ‘To Mean To Lie’ that masterfully balances electronic and acoustic elements. Next, ‘Pinter’ is a softer, more emotionally enriched piece that frames a whispered vocal with a skeletal drum-machine beat and sparse piano keys, whilst ‘Rhyme Or Reason’ is set into a slurry of droning guitar feedback and cleaner picks.
