Losing your identity might seem a disarming theme, but Ital Tek feels as embodied as ever when he channels ego death on his eighth album Mind Abandon. Made largely with processed vocals and guitars, this shift to a more physically creative mode is a means of making electronic music feel more tactile, while standing testament to its transformative possibilities. ‘A Hidden Path’ roils with plummeting bass and guitar plucks morphed into enigmatic zithers, while ‘Kill Switch’ is urgent with its infernal 3/4 time stomps, layering on reverent pads and clanging obliterated rhythms.
