The Bristol-based Crazylegs squad initiate the summer onslaught with this debut release from ISLAND. The six track EP is a showcase of forward-thinking grime mutations flickering between the hyperreal vocal trampolining on VOLA to the euphoric rainforest syncopations of E S Q. Having already won the support of the tastemakers at Fader, the Welsh duo might well have cultivated one of Crazylegs’ most unique offerings for a while. Cutting the retrofuturistic textures of grime, UK garage and bashment with the extroverted tropes most seen among the PC Music camp, NOKIA is a force to be reckoned with.
