Releasing his first album since 2010’s The Age Of Adz, the American singer-songwriter, from Detroit, Michigan, returns with a more straight-laced indie-folk album on the American label Asthmatic Kitty. The release is stocked with a melancholic hopefulness, with guitars, keyboards and vocals taking centre stage, and occasional twists of drone adding a more sinister nature to release. The opening track ‘Death With Dignity’ sets the tone for the release with steady finger-picking guitars and melodic, soft vocals, whilst ‘Drawn To The Blood’ and ‘Blue Bucket Of Gold’ bring some simplistic keys arrangements in, giving the release a pensive, somber feel.
