UK born beatmaker Submerse returns to Berlin based collective Project: Mooncircle with his second full-length offering of soulful, vapour-filled, R&B indebted beats on the Stay Home LP. Partially inspired by the views from his apartment of the non-stop Shibuya district in Tokyo, Stay Home is the laid-back soundtrack to modern urban life; starting with the sensual strut of opener ‘Trip’, moving through the steamier ‘Take It Slower’ and ‘Gloomy’ which cleverly marries light, melodic keys to footwork-focused rhythms. ‘Thinking About You’ and ‘Bokeh’ slip back into a leftfield, down tempo mould, laced with atmospheric samples and a warm, fuzzy glow whereas ‘Why Aren’t You’ is a more uplifting piece that again flirts with jitterbug, juke-inspired rhythms.
