The estate of New York synth punk pioneers Silver Apples launches its own boutique reissue label/electronic music non-profit called the Silver Apples Foundation with a new 12” that features some of the last bits of music from the project. Starting at the very end, the A side’s ‘Oscillations (Studio Mix)’ is in fact band principle Simeon Coxe’s final recording, taken from a 2019 session at his home studio in Alabama, while the Andrew Weatherall remix on the flip features a track from the band’s final album, 2016’s Clinging To A Dream. Both are emblematic of the project’s fearless retrofuturism: both incredibly hi-tech and also lovingly human.
