Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant readies the 6th instalment of the post Sandwell District project Jealous God with a foreboding split release together with Opal Tapes affiliate Lili Schulder under her 51717 guise. It’s Schulder who takes the A-side, starting off with trippy garbled vocals set against palpitating guitar licks on ‘The Glove’ before moving onto similarly dreaded, out-there excursions on ‘Porsche’ and ‘Regard’. Silent Servant picks up these experimental strains on the B-side with the industrial churn of ‘Time In Body’ and more sombre ‘Severed Union’ which both fully draw on the artist’s no-wave influences. In addition, Surface Tension pair Nihar Bahall & Jason Polastri also provide a diverse mix CD, with the likes of Muslimgauze, Pye Corner Audio and Mike Vainio all rubbing shoulders.
