Golden Pudel resident Helena Hauff’s stock continues to rise, picking up the decayed ruins from her immense debut EP Actio Reactio with another oblation of sonic dread for Actress’ Werk Discs /Ninja Tune imprint. The opening two pieces ‘Drowning Demons’ and ‘The Bean Field And The God’ show the German’s taste for extended, dystopian technoid sessions, cluttered with squalid melodies and driven by an incessant analogue pulse. Next, ‘Reaktion II’ revisits the off-kilter 808 furor of ‘Actio Reactio’, this time managing to sound even more depraved due to the brittle, sprayed percussion and additional dollop of reverb; and finally ‘The First Time He Thought, He Died’ – an eerie electro cut that’ll thread together a range of disparate styles.
