Fresh from a full page Wire feature Sacred Tapes unveils its latest release, a collage of foggy Northern noise from John Powell-Jones aka SAVWO, when he is collaborating with the likes of fellow Mancunian drone enthusiasts Demdike Stare or screen-printing and designing record sleeves (he was the man behind that killer Charles Hayward LP from a month or so back) he is a staple in the underground noise scene emerging from the hills of Manchester, 'Abyss' is a 23 minute plus exhibition into the Abyss surrounding his studio at Islington Mill in central Salford, a hypnotic release recalling the forgotten experiments composed by fellow Mancunians Suum Cuique & Xela.
