This EP marks the second release for newly-founded Bologna-based outlet Maple Death Records. It is the eponymous debut for ambient guitar-based artist Stromboli. Clocking in at just 6 tracks; Stromboli’s sound exists somewhere in between ambient opera and cinematic post-rock. The humming intensity of opener Waving encapsulates this vision perfectly; the mantra-like guitar refrains losing their way in the midst of all the noise. The EP was recorded with his own four-track tape machine, a lap steel guitar and an analogue organ. This bare-bones approach results in a release that carries a kind of gothic grandeur and intriguing sense of majesty.
