Fresh wares from Berlin's Workshop crew, Lowtec resuscitates his Out To Lunch imprint after a 10-year hiatus with the Sword Of Light EP from unknown entity The Hangout Project (for our money it sounds like it could be a collab but who knows!) The opening title cut joins the dots between leftfield, footwork and downbeat styles with acute 1/16 hi-hats coalescing with sedative melodies and sparse bass prods. On the other side, ‘The Bomb’ works a more casual house style, expanded over multiple melodic layers with a nagging vocal clip in check, whilst ‘Transfer’ ups the tempo for a hardware heavy, electro-tainted excursion that could easily slot into Magic Mountain High’s back catalogue.
