London label Bison Records brings the auspicious 2016 self-titled debut from critically-acclaimed experimental group Still House Plants to vinyl for the very first time. Landing closer to more traditional slowcore than the splintered and almost psychedelically fragmented sound of their future efforts, Still House Plants nonetheless still shows a band with an entirely distinct kind of virtuosity. The sheer amount of room sound and space on these recordings is as much an instrument or melodic counterpoint as anything played by the three musicians, especially on the dramatic opening number ‘Warm in the Car’.
