Celestial Trax’s NY-via-London living situation is the catalyst for his hybridised take on contemporary rap music. The title track features guest spots from Shady Blaze and Tynethys and it marries the cloudy Clams Casino sound of early ASAP Rocky with the kind of frenetic flow you might associate with Ruff Squad. Then there’s the minimal ferocity of Tru Love where a fidgeting synth clangs off of a metallic beat pattern. For a producer with a wealth of influences, Stargate sounds surprisingly in it’s own lane and points to a future for Celestial Trax that might entail more leading than following.
