After his fantastic Postscript album for 100% in 2013, NYC-based producer Francis Hsueh aka Policy returns to the Los Angeles-based label with a 50-minute (train) journey of music. A trip to his childhood neighborhood in Taipei inspired the album – his parents settled briefly in the Republic of China’s capital after fleeing China when the communists seized power in 1949. With each section named after stations along Taipei’s subway, the ten pieces reflect a ride on the city’s MRT train. The often syncopated house beat leads through soft Fender Rhodes grooving and funky bass lines as its continuous track, recalling distant and distorted memories of hazily remembered suburbs and landscapes as they are passing by through the frame of the window.
