Lapalux returns once again on Brainfeeder. His extraterrestrial electronica wins out once again on this long-player with a collection of cuts that meld the worlds of R&B, trip-hop, techno and neo-soul into one brand new and beguiling form. From the off-kilter celestial synths of Don’t Mean A Thing to the weighty nu-jazz symmetry of Closure featuring Szjerdene, this is Lapalux exploring all corners of his sonic standpoint and revelling in the left field cosmos that he and his Brainfeeder label mates occupy. He even manages to replicate the tripped out hip hop syncopations of FlyLo on Make Money where a Chi-town style snare battles relentlessly against the subsurface bass. Based on the purgatory between sleep and consciousness, Lustmore is a triumphant sophomore record and an interesting concept album showcasing the work of a producer who continues to explore but never fails to hypnotise.
