‘Bunkerpop’ is the latest single from Warp’s Lonelady, aka Julie Campbell, taken from her forthcoming album Hinterland, the eagerly awaited follow-up to her 2010 debut Nerve Up. Taking its inspiration from “a party for one in a bunker, where to put a record on is to conjure presences”, ‘Bunkerpop’ is a shimmering slice of dystopian electro-pop, deftly treading the line between carefree dance music and bleak nihilism. On the B-side the Michigan Pitch Down Mix lives up to its promise, giving a slightly pitched down and therefore somewhat darker version of the original, while the Wrangler Mix evokes the menacing IDM soul of Jamie Liddell.
