Sublime Frequencies showcase the victories of archiving and research once again with this 70-minute overview of Vietnamese radio sounds. As well as giving listeners a taste of the many incarnations of genres that exist on Vietnam’s airwaves, the collection also includes jingles, adverts, radio-plays and other wireless oddities. While the release entertains through curio and novelty, there is a fascinating closeness between these sounds and the chords of more familiar stations of the Western world. The release was recorded, compiled, sequenced, and produced by Mark Gergis in Vietnam between 2013 and 2014.
