Coming right off the back of that killer Luke Vibert release, Balkan Vinyl spin off I Love Acid drops the fourth instalment to its flourishing discography with another essential piece from veteran Jerome Hill. Opening cut ‘Consumed’ drags us right back into the late 80’s Chicago heyday with the tough, acidic jack equal to any of Phuture’s masterpieces or more recent takes on the sound from Helena Hauff and the Nation contingent, whilst ‘Controlled’ sinks into a deeper groove and retains the watery lysergic thread. We’re offered little let off on the flip, with the jacking analogue romp of ‘Move’ completely dominating all in its wake, whereas Altern 8 legend Mark Archer beefs up the drums and grafts some heavy tension from the retro stabs on his equally mighty remix.

  2. 2 Controlled 1:30
