Continuing what seems to be an unstoppable barrage of high quality productions coming out of Glasgow of late, S-Type returns with three dark as hell instrumental hip-hop tracks for label du jour LuckyMe. Kicking things off is ‘Fire’, a perfect example of how S-Type’s sound is developing into something with the potential to transcend its genre: the production is tight and brutal, stretching the limits of treble and bass seemingly to breaking point, but there is a subtlety in the arrangement which elevates this into much more than just a club banger. ‘Casper’ begins wistfully, all light melody and wind chimes, before dragging the low-end down to impossible depths. Watch your bass-bins with this one.
