Deathly dark ambient producer Kreng delivers his fourth LP for Miasmah Recordings in the form of The Summoner. Laced with an eerie ambience, Kreng’s harrowing compositions are the hair-raising accompaniment to an imagery horror film, beginning with the chilling string drone of ‘Denial’, followed by the tense, doom-filled atmospheres of ‘Anger’ and ‘Bargaining’. The tension spills over on the intense, 15-minute excursion of ‘The Summoning’, where drugged drumming and heavy guitars collide with screeched vocals whilst the soft piano keys of ‘Acceptance’ act as the fitting redemption.
