Genres

Virginia Beach brotherly rap duo Clipse’s 2006 sophomore effort Hell Hath No Fury found Malice, Pusha T, with production entirely by Pharrel Williams refining their infectious chemistry into an even sharper weapon of choice. Clipse cut the guest list down a bit here as well, squaring their focus instead on the preternatural wordplay between brothers while gliding on beats that split the difference between radio killer fodder, grim street rap, and the giddy big band maximalism of their debut. The smash ‘Mr. Me Too’ features those patented buzzing synths and crisp snares, but the almost gospel-y chords and stuttering vocal chops on ‘Keys Open Doors’ still sound like they're from a future unknown even to this day. Arguably their finest work, Hell Hath No Fury forms the centre piece of much-needed vinyl reissues of their debut trio of albums that still stand among the finest collections from an especially furtive period of Southern hip hop.
