Pepijn Caudron’s Kreng project began life as a strictly sample based affair, blending the sounds of free-jazz, electro, modern classical and esoteric field recordings, but eventually mutated into a dramatic device used by various film and theatre directors, most notably for the macabre speechless performances of Belgian theatre company Abattoir Ferme. One of two reissues for Miasmah, L’Autopsie Phenomenale de Dieu (The Phenomenal Autopsy of God) is everything we’ve come to expect from Caudron’s singular imagination, taking familiar instruments and twisting them into grotesque new shapes.
