Glagow producer KAVARI makes her debut on XL Recordings with a new EP entitled PLAGUE MUSIC. Landing somewhere between the gothic slurry of classic EBM and the redlined maximalism of turn of the century producers, KAVARI’s music thrillingly hits like big room on a weirder, much darker planet. PLAGUE MUSIC uses this louder-than-loud sound template as a jumping off point to explore our currency of societal ills as a parable for a post-dystopic wasteland stripped of humanity in near totality. The briefest hints at lifeforms: a breath utterance here, some sense of footwork there seem to suggest a way back from the brink, but there’s a lot of heat to be found in the darkness.
