After a string of releases on Doxa Records, Daniel Herrmann aka Flug 8 brings his techno / krautrock hybrid sound to Disko B for second LP Trans Atlantik. The album draws on both childhood and recent memories of spending time in the air, especially focusing on the seemingly endless hours of solitude, a theme which the opening airy vocals and seared synth chords of ‘Zeittraffer’ reflects. Following on, ‘Konsumprodukt’ builds over a mechanical stomp and glitching interference equip with unintelligible technoid vocals whilst ‘Musik aus Metall’ is a clanging, metallurgical cut heightened by sterile German vocals reminiscent of Uwe Schmidt’s approach under his Atom™ guise. Dredging up childhood memories again ‘Ostsee’ references the omnipresence of organs in Herrmann’s upbringing, crafting beautiful, reverberant overtones and harmonies that reflect the personal nature of this LP.
