Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Henry's Dream
Catalogue Number
Release Date
March 29, 2010

Henry’s Dream, originally released in April 1992, is often cited as a favourite album among seasoned Bad Seeds fans, and was the first to feature long-standing members Martyn P. Casey on bass and Conway Savage on keys. The scabrous lyrics and deep, doleful voice that have come to define Cave’s persona are perfectly exemplified across these nine tracks. From the rousing sea shanty bombast of ‘Papa Won’t Leave You Henry’ to the drunkenly staggering melancholy of ‘Jack The Ripper’ this is an album full of venom, vitriol and vibrant characters – ‘Christina The Astonishing’ is purportedly based on the life of a 12th century Christian saint. While the world was waking up to the rugged appeal of grunge, Cave was busy sowing that fertile ground with his Bad Seeds to raucous, riotous effect.
