Demdike Stare’s incredible Test Pressing series comes to a close with the 7th and final installment on their Modern Love home. In a run that has so far seen the duo fire off everything from motorik I.B.M-esque industrial edits to post-Chicago house, it seems fitting that they close with their potent brand of ‘ardcore jungle revivals, which has arguably been their most memorable theme. On the A-side, ‘Rathe’ lines up brittle, half-stepping drum fills laid over a melodic undercurrent and choir-like vocals, all sounding like a fitting extension to the HATE material from ‘08/’09. On the flip, ‘Patchwork’ is an energetic cut up of juking drums and UK garage vibes with chopped vocals flipping forward and in reverse, primed to take the party to the next level.
