Delroy Edwards comes correct on his west coast based L.A Club Resource imprint with the Kickin Butts!! EP. Whether Tony Montana’s classic ‘Say goodnight to the bad guy’ dialogue on opening track ‘Say Goodnight’ represents a swipe at the wider musical community or just an accolade to one of Hollywood’s greatest is debatable, yet it sets the mood for four typically grainy lo-fi bangers; with the gritted jack of the title cut leading into ‘Die Motherfuckers’ – a skewed take on the Geto Boys classic. On ‘Str8 Fuckd’ Edwards pays homage to the early Chicago legends, going all out with razor sharp hi-hats and spluttering drums whilst ‘Insane In The Membrain’ is another eye-wateringly coarse house jam.
