There are few individuals better suited to the curatorial responsibilities of heading up a Late Night Tales mix. Bonobo (aka DJ and producer Simon Green) does not disappoint on this selection. Outlining a few of the sounds that inspire him creatively, Green joyrides through pop, soul, classical, jazz and electronica with ease. Whether it’s Nina Simone’s inimitable vocal on Baltimore or the guttering production of Airhead on South Congress, the 21 selections made on this are an authentic glimpse in to Bonobo’s record collection. Following suit of Tales before him, Green caps off the mix with the soothing oratory of Benedict Cumberbatch’s storytelling. One of the most interesting and replay-friendly mixes the series has to offer.
