Ingenious German techno creator Thomas Brinkmann returns to London’s DJ label Third Ear with an EP of tidied productions. Following his Guy Martin EP from over a year ago, When The Music… comes in the veteran’s distinctive style. With Kraftwerkian synth work dominating the sleek ‘Odecca’, the opener sheds light on one of his long-standing inspirational focal points. ‘8 Ba’ shifts towards groovy guitar chords and slapping-bass notes, adding elements of funk and soul to the techno base frame. This continues on the guitar-driven B-side, which also bears a likeness to his later productions.
