Fresh post-structuralist experiments from Berlin-based producer James Whipple aka M.E.S.H. who lands on Rennaissance Man’s virginal Finnish imprint Black Ocean with Infra Dusk / Infra Dawn. Following his superb debut EP Scynthians for PAN last year, the two brilliantly intricate cuts of his latest effort live up to the high standards his short release career has set for himself. What starts out as the corrupt memory of an R’n’B beat bursts out in the jittery, irregular grime rhythms of clipped percussive elements – they narrate the story of Infra Dusk, whereas the hints of synths are merely dictating its curious atmosphere. The B-side soundtracks machines starting and shutting down, its only constant being a subtly floating space drone over which the beat takes its wildly deconstructed turns.
