In the summer of 2014, Richie Hawtin readopted his Plastikman alias for EX. The LP was his first since 2003 and it further showcased Hawtin’s commitment to not becoming a heritage dance music veteran wheeled out to the highest bidder. The record explored space, synergy and - of course - minimalism. Mute have now left 4 of the album’s tracks in the hands of fellow dance heavyweights for club mixes. Dixon’s remix of Exhale is exactly the meeting of the minds one might dream of from this combination. Tale Of Us also add pathos and grandeur to Expand without compromising any of Hawtin’s stark minimalism. Whilst they were originally built with specific spaces in mind, this release widens the possibilities for the spellbinding chapters of EX.
